The Haryana government has kicked off the procurement of paddy at the Minimum Support
Price (MSP), with over 46,000 metric tons (MT) already acquired. According to an official
statement released on Tuesday evening, the paddy procurement process commenced on
September 27.
As of now, the government has procured more than 46,000 MT of paddy from 241 mandis
and procurement centers across the state, benefiting over 7,500 farmers. On Tuesday alone,
approximately 1,200 MT of paddy was lifted. The government is also ensuring prompt
payments to farmers, having transferred Rs 2 crore directly to their bank accounts, as per the
statement.
In addition to paddy, the procurement of bajra at MSP also began on Tuesday. The state has
set up 91 mandis and procurement centers specifically for bajra, with over 25,000 quintals
already purchased from farmers. The procurement process is proceeding smoothly and is
expected to continue until November 15, the statement added.
“The Haryana government is fully committed to safeguarding the economic interests of
farmers and will ensure a smooth and efficient procurement process throughout the season,”
the statement emphasized.
