Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit Varanasi on August 2 to deliver a major financial boost to farmers under the PM Kisan Samman Nidhi scheme. In the 20th installment of this flagship scheme, ₹20,500 crore will be transferred directly to the bank accounts of 9.7 crore eligible farmers across the country — just ahead of Raksha Bandhan.
Uttar Pradesh farmers will receive a substantial share of this benefit, with ₹4,600 crore
going to over 2.3 crore farmers. Varanasi alone will see about 2.21 lakh farmers receiving
₹48 crore.
Under the PM-KISAN scheme, every landholding farmer family is entitled to an annual benefit of ₹6,000, paid in three equal installments of ₹2,000.
During his visit, PM Modi will also address a public gathering at Banouli village in the
Sevapuri block and unveil a wide range of developmental projects.
He is scheduled to land at Lal Bahadur Shastri International Airport around 10:30 a.m., where he’ll be welcomed by CM Yogi Adityanath and local leaders. Around 11 a.m., he will inaugurate and lay foundation stones for 52 projectsworth ₹2,183.45 crore in sectors like infrastructure, healthcare, education, tourism, and urban development.
Key highlights include:
- Widening of Varanasi-Bhadohi Road
- Upgrading Chhitauni–Shool Tankeshwar Road
- Inauguration of a Railway Overbridge at Hardattpur, expected to decongest the
Mohan Sarai–Adalpura stretch
These initiatives are part of a broader vision to improve connectivity, enhance the quality of life, and preserve the cultural heritage of Varanasi.
