NABARD Backs Over 6,000 FPOs; Enhances Rural Infrastructure and Credit Access

The National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD) has supported the creation of 6,215 Farmer Producer Organisations (FPOs) under various initiatives to empower farmers and boost agricultural productivity. Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman informed Parliament that support provided includes capacity building, credit access, market linkage, and financial education.

In collaboration with SFAC and ONDC, NABARD has organised 50 FPO Melas across 24 states/UTs to showcase and promote FPO products.

Moreover, NABARD extends funding to states for rural infrastructure development through multiple schemes like the Rural Infrastructure Development Fund (RIDF), Micro Irrigation Fund (MIF), and Warehouse Infrastructure Fund (WIF), among others. These efforts contribute to better roads, irrigation, and storage in rural areas, improving market access and credit absorption capacity.

Between 2022 and 2025, NABARD sanctioned ₹1.4 lakh crore under RIDF, of which ₹1.22 lakh crore has been disbursed. Additionally, other infrastructure funds saw disbursements of

₹36,439 crore from total sanctions of ₹47,617 crore. These initiatives are crucial in strengthening India’s rural economy and supporting agricultural sustainability.
