Bihar Poised to Become Key Driver of National Growth: Minister Nitish Mishra

Kolkata: Bihar’s Industries and Tourism Minister, Nitish Mishra, announced that Bihar is
poised to play a crucial role in driving national growth, with a focus on developing the textile,
IT, manufacturing, and tourism sectors, including religious circuits.
During the Bihar Business Connect 2024, hosted by the Indian Chamber of Commerce (ICC)
in Kolkata, Mishra emphasized the state’s potential to boost eastern India’s growth. He noted
that despite Bihar’s struggle with negative perceptions, efforts are being made to change this
image.
Mishra highlighted the support from the central government and positive reception of
proposals by Commerce and Petroleum Ministers. He also mentioned an upcoming mega
event in December to attract both domestic and foreign investors.
Sandeep Poundrik, Additional Chief Secretary of the Department of Industries-Bihar,

that many misconceptions are unfounded.
Rajeev Singh, Director General of the ICC, emphasized the importance of interactions,
roadshows, and platforms to connect with relevant companies and investors, turning them
into ambassadors for Bihar.
Mishra also discussed Bihar’s tourism potential, particularly religious tourism, which has seen
significant growth post-pandemic. Key destinations include Patna Sahib, Bodh Gaya, Maner
Sharif, and Sitamarhi.
The Bihar Business Connect event is scheduled for December 11-12 in Patna, preceded by
